About PADCENS (Formerly ADNEP)
The association formerly known as the Association of Diabetes Nurse Educators of the Philippines, Inc (ADNEP) is an organization who lived by Dr Ricardo E. Fernando's crusade of "An Empowered Nation Against Diabetes."
Dr. Ricardo E. Fernando strongly believed that nurses are integral part of
the diabetes team. He started to train nurses from Mary Johnston
Hospital in 1971 to help address the growing population of people
with diabetes. Dr. Fernando, with a group of nurses from University of the East
Ramon Magsaysay Medical Memorial Hospital (UERMMMC) headed by Dean Carmelita C.
Divinagracia, drafted and implemented the first curriculum for Diabetes Nurse
Educators of the Philippines in 1991.
ADNEP was formally organized and registered at Securities and
Exchange Commission on February 15, 1993.
ADNEP is recognized by Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) as one of the
nursing specialty groups and an Accredited PRC-CPD Provider.
Through the guidance of dedicated advisers, ADNEP volunteers continued to
conduct the Post Graduate Diabetes Education Training (now known as Diabetes
Education Training Program for Registered Nurses, Registered
Nutritionist-Dietitians and Allied Health Care Professionals).
In 2006 in partnership with the Philippine Association of Diabetes
Educators, Inc. (PADE), the training program started accepting other health
care professionals. Implementation of two training per year started in 2007.
Regional training was first conducted in Kidapawan City through the efforts of
Drs Grace Aquitania and Flora Mae Zambrano-Jacobo.
Due to the growing recognition for the essential role of diabetes educator,
the clamor for regional training begins.
Iloilo, Cebu, Davao, Bukidnon, Batangas, Cavite, Tarlac, Dagupan,
General Santos, Daet and Masbate are the provinces targeted for the training
implementation. All regional trainings were coordinated and spearheaded by the
ISDFI Alumni and partner organizations like the Nutritionist-Dietitians
Association of the Philippines (NDAP), Davao Chapter.
Vision

Mission
Empower diabetes nurse educators to move people towards the promotion of health and prevention and control of diabetes through education, research, and multi-sectoral collaboration
Goals:
Core Values
The logo of the Association shall be in circular form bearing the words PHILIPPINE ASSOCIATION OF DIABETES CARE AND EDUCATION NURSE SPECIALISTS, INC. It is represented by a pair of extended hands upholding a lighted lamp with a heart resting above central to it. The raised hands symbolize the respect that we put in the nursing knowledge, which is represented by the light from the lamp. Care and education are given with love, which is articulated by the heart. Biblically, the heart is accepted as the seat of man’s intelligence and is therefore placed superior to the lamp and the hands. The colors green, gold, and red represent hope, prosperity, and compassion respectively.
